New life Unlocked: Choosing my Hard

Welcome y’all!

I started this blog to document and share a huge shift in my life. For so long, I sought a life that felt aligned to my values. A life filled with purpose and joy. Today, as I reflect on my journey towards this authentic existence, one guiding principle stands out: “follow the plan, not your mood.” This mindset has empowered me to stop dreaming and start actively seeking the life I wish to lead.

Choosing your Hard

By embracing this mindset, so much has changed for me. I moved to a new city, married the man of my dreams, and I’m finally in a career that allows me to have impact without completely depleting my energy and happiness. It all started when I realized that changing my life won’t be easy, but I get to choose my “hard”. By choosing my hard differently, I have found a path that allows me to pursue challenges and joys in equal measure.

Here are five things that helped me start living authentically:

  • Embrace your passions: Identify and prioritize activities that bring you joy and fulfillment.
  • Align with your values: Make decisions and pursue goals that resonate with your core beliefs and principles.
  • Practice gratitude: Cultivate a mindset of appreciation for the present moment and the journey you’re on.
  • Seek genuine connections: Surround yourself with people who support and uplift you, fostering authentic relationships.
  • Embrace vulnerability: Be open and honest with yourself and others, allowing for genuine connections and growth.

What’s next?

Through my upcoming blog, I aim to share my stories and experiences as I continue to pursue a life that brings me joy and fulfillment. From topics like mental health and physical wellness to career planning, marriage, and spirituality, I hope to provide insights and inspiration for others on their own journeys towards authenticity and purpose.

I invite you to join me on this path of self-discovery and empowerment, as we all strive to choose our hard differently and live with authenticity and intentionality.

Thank you for the short read. I read “follow the plan, not your mood,” my mind reformulated it to read “follow your plan, not your pain” (for alliteration effect, it’s easier for me to remember). The point is, I tend to follow my pain down a path of endless nowhere. I sit in it, and as a result, stifle any progress toward achieving my goals. All that to say, thank you — if it’s the only thing I’ve read today, I needed to read it.

You’re so welcome, & thank you for sharing this perspective. Changing the last word (mood/pain) to match your current circumstance can be powerful. I think it’ll help me put one foot in front of the other during those tough times. Thanks again.
